Weblinx Football Outing

A few weeks ago, we were all busy away at work when Darren brought a local football tournament to our attention. We’re always talking about football so we thought, why not? We could win, or at least have a laugh in the process. You see, we all play a bit of football but very rarely together, it would be an experience to all play in the same team for a change.

The tournament is at a local sports centre and will take place on astro-turf as opposed to a field. In preparation to the tournament, we decided to get together for a kick around and to see how well we all play with each other. Never before in my life have I ever seen such disorientation in a football team before. I don’t know if it as fatigue or just being out of action for a while but we were struggling to even string more than 2 passes together. Not to mention our collective lack of fitness in the team.

We had an hour long session to fill when quite frankly, after the first 15 minutes, many of us would have been happier sat in the pub or even at home. Towards the end of the session, we were getting used to playing with each other and had adjusted to actually running again though, so all is not negative. The tournament will be held this week after work, so we’ll be sure to take a few (most probably embarrassing) photos from the event. We’ll post the photos along with a review of our performance to this blog. I guess this goes to show that not all IT professionals live in a cupboard. Wish us luck, that’s serious, we could do with all we can get.
