Google Shopping

What is Google Shopping?

When searching Google, it is possible to get Google to return only shopping results. This is done by clicking on “Shopping” at the top left of the Google home page, this directs you to the Google Product Search page, where you can enter your search term. This service is essentially a price comparison service that Google is providing. Google shopping is one of the most overlooked Google services.

The results shown are all products that are available to buy over the Internet. These results can be sorted by price, brand and shop.

Setting up a Google Products Feed is straight forward but does require setting up a Google Account and creating a data feed with all the product details on it and where on the Internet.

Submitting a feed to Google is free, Google can do this by having AdWords listings next to the free listings.

Google Shopping and Google Checkout

Google Checkout is a form of Google shopping that allows for quicker and more secure purchases, both online and in supported retail shops. It’s a free service that only requires you enter a username and password when purchasing online. This is because once you’ve signed up, all your details are attached to your account. This makes it simple and easy to make payments for your online purchases. Obviously, this is only available with compatible sites. In addition to this, in some retail shops, there are stations where you can use your Android phone to pay for goods. This is done through an app connected to Google Checkout called Google Wallet.
