Why SEO is A Better Investment for Internet Marketing Than Social Networking

Online-Marketing

When it comes to website promotion there are many different directions you can go to help promote your website and attract more traffic, creating conversions in the process. By having the right marketing strategy in place your company is likely to benefit more from owning a website than it would by only having a workplace. Traditional marketing is all good but can prove to be costly whilst Internet marketing is not only cheap but due to the daily growth of the Internet there are always new customers to find locally, nationwide and globally.

The question is, which direction should you take and why is it the better choice?

Recently I have noticed an increase in many different marketing schemes – Search engine optimisation (SEO), social networking and social media marketing. Each has proven to be successful for different companies when time and money has been put in, but the problem is not every company has the money to spend for no success. Social networking and social media are both good for cheap Internet marketing, but it can take months to even years before you are noticed by the public. SEO on the other can only take up to a couple of months before you begin seeing a huge change in traffic to your website and doesn’t have to be expensive when done correctly.

So why is SEO better? For a start, there are many companies available with success stories for different websites that can help you do the same for your site. By finding the right company for the right price you will be able to forget about making any changes to your website and allow the company to do this for you whilst you continue managing your business. As there are different approaches you can take with SEO it can be cheap to costly depending on the industry you want promote yourself in. Industries such as gambling are proven to be difficult to rank high in search engine result pages without hundreds of high quality links from prestigious websites. By finding a niche in the market you are not only likely to gain high positions but also find customers you may have never found before.

When gaining ranks on search engines it is important to remember that the keywords you choose are what people are going to be searching for. By having your website ranked high for keywords relevant to your company you are likely to see a huge conversion rate. Millions of people use search engines to find websites, Google being the number one search engine on the web. Having your website on page 1 for a popular keyword in an industry is just like having a TV advert – People are going to see it and are likely to take more notice than they would from any other website.

There are other approaches to search engine optimisation, but by attracting organic traffic you are unlikely to spend as much money as you would paying for adverts through services such as AdWords or having adverts displayed on social networking sites. Besides, most SEO companies usually use social media and social networking websites to promote companies, that is, of course, if you find the right company for you. If you do choose to do the SEO for your website yourself it may be cheaper, but it can take a long time before you get your site optimised correctly first before it begins to rank for the keywords you have chosen.
